Ovens

R.M

So after many weeks of researching ovens, I find what I think is the perfect one via eBay. LPG, 4 rack, turbo fan. For sale in a 2nd hand catering shop at £660.

I look up the spec online. Grab a ruler to measure the dimensions and in my excitement bid for it. I win, pick it up from Birmingham is the following week.

In that week it did slightly occur to me the oven would be a little bigger than ideal but having checked the measurements I was happy it would be tight but still fit.

Van hired and a 4hr drive to Birmingham I finally arrive. Take one look at the oven, and am ashamed to say knew it wouldn’t fit.

While I took the measurements it did not for 1 minute occur to me to account for the oven having a door and the need for that door to open.. honestly, I’m embarrassed even writing this.

Oh the shame! of having to turn around and return to London empty-handed and £70 down on petrol and all due to my own fault.

On the same trip, I manage to lock myself in the back of the van for 20mins, to say it wasn’t the best of days is an understatement.

Lesson learnt.

1. Check your measurements!

2. Get someone else to check your measurements!!

3. Ovens have doors that need to be accessible
